What we use
Our guides are compiled from three kinds of information:
Provider pages
Plan prices, renewal rates, limits and terms, as published by each provider. We date every price check.
Public reviews
Independent review sites and editorial comparisons.
User feedback
Customer review platforms and community forums. We look for themes that come up again and again, not one-off stories.
How we write it
- Opinions are always attributed, using phrases like users commonly report or reviewers often note.
- We do not claim hands-on testing, and we don't invent ratings, benchmarks or coupon codes.
- Ribbons such as Top pick and Best value follow criteria stated on each page. Commission rates never affect them.
- We keep a record of what we read for every page.
Updates
Prices are rechecked regularly and every page shows the date we last checked them. User-feedback themes are reviewed every quarter.
